Winter Greens 5-Month CSA

$175.00

Enjoy fresh greens throughout the winter! Thanks to our mild climate (and a bit of advanced planning), we’re able to offer fresh produce year-round. These include: beets, bok choy, broccoli, cabbage, carrots, kale, leeks, lettuce, scallions, spinach, and Swiss chard. Plus, our popular microgreens.

This is a once-per-month CSA from November through March, with two “customer cohorts”; you can select deliveries/pick-ups for either the first Friday or third Friday of the month.

Fun fact: many vegetables become even sweeter in the winter, especially after the first frost. No bitter greens here!

  • Community Supported Agriculture (CSA) is a subscription service for customers to receive fresh, local produce directly from farmers. Customers pay for a "share" of the harvest, and since payment is received in advance of the growing season, this helps farmers with crop planning and managing cash flow.

Like investors, CSA members reap the benefit and share the risks of small-scale farming. You’ll enjoy bumper crops and experience the real impacts of an extreme weather event or unexpected crop failure. Rest assured, though, we’ll always fill your CSA deliveries with at least $35 worth of produce.

Every month, we deliver freshly harvested produce to your home or office, typically between 4pm and 7pm. Pick-ups are available during the same time-range.

We also send a newsletter about what produce to expect in the upcoming delivery, new recipes, and any tips or techniques for preparing and preserving your items. And probably lots of photos of our chickens and farm dog.

If you’re out of town, contact us at least a week in advance to gift your CSA delivery to a friend or neighbor. Alternatively, we can donate it a local household in need.

  • You can choose one of these two options:

    First Friday of the Month:

    • November 7

    • December 5

    • January 2

    • February 6

    • March 6

    Third Friday of the Month

    • December 19

    • January 16

We also send lots of reminders so you don’t forget an upcoming CSA date!

  • For this winter season, we offer this CSA to those living and working within a 10-mile radius of Tacoma, WA. We hope to offer a wider delivery service in the future and make our produce available at other locations, like farmers’ markets.

  • We offer a micro “farm stand” on our front porch. We provide the exact address after check-out, but we’re near 11th and Stevens in Tacoma.

We’ve also partnered with Tacoma Knife and Mercantile as a convenient downtown pick-up location.

  • Full payments are due in advance to reserve your CSA share. Installments are available at checkout through AfterPay and Klarna.

    All major credit cards accepted.

  • By purchasing a CSA share, you are part of our inaugural year and will forever hold a special place in the history of Happy Kitchen Farm.

As this is our first year, we hope that you’ll also provide honest and candid feedback to help us grow the business.

Thank you for supporting small-scale farmers in your community!
